I work as a part time web designer. I prefer to make web sites with some cultural connection, but of course all customers are welcome. If you are interested in having a web site made for you, please read the information on this page as well as on Buy Design page.
For me, it is of main interest that you are happy with colour schemes, picture placement and overall structure. All ideas for layout or other solutions are taken into consideration and developed if possible. It is important for me that we keep a close communication all the way through the work's progress until the homepage is finished.
The homepage is made in XHTML, with CSS as the layout tool. Additional scripts, programs or features can be discussed. Since the page is scripted in pure markup language, I have better control over the layout than using any WYSIWYG program. The reasons to code a homepage in markup language are:
- The homepage is working well in all browsers of later versions, and most other older versions.
- The page looks the way it is supposed to.
- I know where the error is if something is not working.
- Even the best WYSIWYG program can be a time-consuming trap for most web designers when the homepage is not responding the way you wanted.
My main control browser is Internet Explorer 7.0 in Windows XP, but I also check the homepage in Netscape 7.1, Netscape 8.1, Firefox 1.5 and Opera 9.02. I have help with testing web sites in Safari and Firefox for Macintosh as well.
I validate all pages on the web site at W3C's MarkUp Validation Service. This makes a homepage follow the strict W3C standards and is a guarantee that the web site is as efficiently working as possible in most browsers. All my sites have a link to the validation service.
